As the former Middle School Specialist in NYCDOE Office of Renewal, Executive Director for School Achievement, and NYCDOE middle school principal, he demonstrated a relentless pursuit of excellence. His leadership extended to Director of School Quality in the Office of Accountability and Director of School Assessment and Improvement for NYCDOE, amplifying his influence in the educational domain.
A staunch advocate for lifelong learning, Dr. Fernandez's zeal led him to partake in the prestigious Chancellor’s Incentive Doctoral Program, culminating in his graduation with the highest honors from St. John’s University in 2002.
Dr. Salvador Fernandez has been a driving force in STEM education, notably crafting and spearheading the transformative school achievement effort at the New York City Department of Education. His visionary leadership was also instrumental during his tenure as the principal of I.S. 52 in District 6 Manhattan, Director of School Quality in the Office of Accountability for the New York City Department of Education, and Director of School Assessment and Improvement for District 5, earning him national recognition for his pioneering contributions to education reform.
A proud product of New York City's public school system, Dr. Fernandez's profound connection to education has motivated him to serve on the New Rochelle Board of Education in New Rochelle, NY. He also holds a position on the board of directors for "It Takes a Village to Educate a Child," further exemplifying his dedication to fostering an enriched learning environment.
Dr. Fernandez's academic journey includes the acquisition of a Master of Science degree from Hunter College, followed by an educational administration certificate from City College of New York.
